Steps to reproduce:

v24 does not connect to AT&T servers to allow email download or sending


Actual results:

Auto-install of v24.  Upon 1st use email download hangs.
deleted account and attempted to setup up account.  Could not setup account.
installed v17 and was able to access AT&T, setup account (same if as used in v24), and download email.
re-installed v24.  Account was setup but result is the same.  Access attempt to download or send email with AT&T results in hang.
When initially rebooting software from v17 to v24 the software access and downloads AT&T emails, but any future attempt results in hang.


Expected results:

It should have worked.
Severity: normal → blocker
Priority: -- → P1
Not a blocker (i.e., interruption of development).

Please define "hang" - does the download start and then stalls?
Or, does it try to connect but the connection is never established?

Is Thunderbird still responding or does it need to be force-quit?
Do you get an error message after some time?

Is this a POP or an IMAP account? Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings.
Did you check anti-virus/spam-filter software for any action necessary on updates?

Hang means that a program becomes unresponsive.

I attempted installing v24 with all Security software disabled. All security software auto updates.  No difference in v24 performance.

When v24 attempts to access AT&T Network, it constantly says Connecting to pop.att.yahoo.com and never progresses beyond that point.  After reload of Thunderbird a test to send email results in smtp fails to connect.  All info for connections came from v17 where connection could be established. Able to send and receive emails.  So issue is with v24. No other resultant error messages. AT&T is pop, which is what v17 establishes correctly and works.
