One could distinguish between 1.0 opacity (OPAQUE) and translucent objects. But what about invisible objects that have 0 opacity? I think they should be invisible.

it's rather transparent than invisible

btw, IA2 has IA2_STATE_OPAQUE state that should be presented on every completely visible element which is different but correlates.
