This is a bit of a spin off from bug 917416. It looks like it wont be easy to declare a remote iframe/RenderFrameParent as being opaque. Until then when a b2g app is full screen we maintain a fullscreen thebes layer for the entire background because we have the top status bar and presumably a solid background color. We could save a lot of memory and bandwidth if we separated this into a thebes+color layer.

It was as I feared, that layers also carries the background which is hidden by the app. We need a proper solution to bug 917416.
