The #rust IRC channel seems to be under spambot attack today. Most of them are just posting innocuous messages like "Welcome" and "Hello", but the join/leave traffic and the messages are so bad we've had to set modes +MR to deal with it for now.

I haven't seen this in other rooms, so I'm concerned it's pointed directly at #rust. Is there something else we can do about this? Are the right people aware of this attack?

I've cc'ed the right people on the bug now.
#rust is the largest public channel on moznet now, so it's an obvious target for lazy spammers. #b2g and #firefox are often similarly affected.

mode +s would help with this (#developers never gets spammed!), but has some obvious downsides (slightly harder for people to find the channel, etc.)
The spam wave subsided, I don't think there's any action to track here.
