Details

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.3) Gecko/20010801
BuildID: 2001080104

While loading a page in Mozilla no elements of any window
are repainted, nor can I take any action until the page
has fully loaded. This is very annoying when waiting for a slowly loading page
to finish.
Sorry, if this has been reported earlier, but searching through Release Notes of
0.9.3 and bugzilla for different keywords yielded no similar results for this
very obvious bug.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open second window
2. Load URL in this window
3. Try to switch to first window

Actual Results: Only the window-manager's frame of the first window appears.

Expected Results: I would like Mozilla not to block itself while loading one page.

This has already been the case for at least 0.9.2. Tested on both SuSE Linux 6.2
and 6.4, with systems with 128-256 MB RAM, and Double PPro 200 up to AMD 900.
This WFM on 2001081208 Win2k. Maybe a Linux only issue?
This works fine for me also on linux 2001083108.

Reporter: can you please give specific examples as to which pages you are
loading when this occurs? FWIW, the system I am on right now is fairly similar
to yours, but i'm on a P3-550 and SuSE 7.1. XFree updated to 4.1.0 and running
WindowMaker 0.65.1. Possibly a problem with the XServer/Windowmanager you are
using?
URL: Any
This is independent of URL, just take any URL which takes more than 10 seconds
to load, and get extremely annoyed. I just tried www.cnn.com, which took 24.388s
to load on my machine, and I could put the window in background and move around,
but while the window decorations were updated continuously the content of the
window was only updated twice (showing the menu and a white browser window)
before the final content appeared.

I am using SuSE 6.2 and have seen it on 6.4, and all the machines still have X
versions 3.3.X, so my system is a bit older than yours. Windowmanager is
sawfish, but also occurs with fvwm2 and olvwm.
WORKSFORME with 2001-09-08-21 on Linux.

I run on a PIII-550 with 128 megs of RAM. Window manager is FVWM 2.4 on XFree86
4.1.0. I tried loading the page incoming.debian.org, which is usually full of
entries, and my first window was still responsive allowing me to scroll and read
it's content.
Hmm, downloaded 0.9.4 yesterday and it seems fixed for me now.
wfm per reporter's comment.
