Update:
Do not need copy or icon review for 13 add-ons, has been completed in a separate bug.

For International Privacy day, thinking of using this copy:
"It's International Privacy Day! Did you know Firefox gives you more control over your data and privacy? Find out how."

CTA would possibly be to Light Beam or DNT.

Hey Lee,
When I saved the svg and tried it, the logo doesn't show up because I think it's in the middle of the page. If you can move the icon to the upper right within the file I think that would help.

I think it works but needs to be resized to 40 x 50 if possible?

Here's it is again, Jean. Scaled down to 40x50px
Thanks Lee!

In case it is lost up in the comments above, the only thing left is an icon for International Privacy Day and an icon for SUMO (do they have a logo?).

For International Privacy day, I'm down for using whatever will be shown for social and email if it makes sense.

For SUMO, if they don't have a logo, maybe we can use something like the ? and ... talk bubble on this page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/get-involved
(In reply to Jean Collings from comment #17)

Yep, sounds good. I'll check with Lizz to see about the timing of when all that's going to come together (I know it's soon).

Yes, the question mark talk bubble could work here. Would suggest playing with the colors to make it more Firefoxy.
Jennifer,
I'm adding one more project related to the Olympics with a deadline in the first week of February (Olympics start on Feb 7th). I'll need copy/icon review and a static or animation for the big logo area.

The purpose of this campaign is to capitalize on the global demonstration and provide users an opportunity to demonstrate pride for their country by applying a desktop theme (flag): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/mozilla/flags/

COPY:
Matej, can you review this copy please? This will link to the Flag Themes collection on the add-ons page (I'm sure you are well aware of this but we're not allowed to use the word "Olympics").

"Customize Firefox with your nation's flag and celebrate the global spirit of community."

SMALL ICON:
I was planning on just using the Firefox logo. Will need help converting it to SVG (currently 40 x 50 png).

LARGE LOGO:
Static image or animation. For the last Olympics, we had the animated torch but maybe this year we can have multiple flag banners wrapped around the Firefox logo (I am completely open to other ideas).

Snippet for SUMO attached.

Jean, I think that John was going to ask Sean to design the Privacy Day snippet. I can help you with the Firefox logo SVG. I'll post below
Privacy Day discussions are ongoing. :)
(In reply to John Slater from comment #21)
> Privacy Day discussions are ongoing. :)

John, do you think the hero image we're currently considering for Privacy Day (a combo of last year's image: https://blog.mozilla.org/files/2013/01/most-trusted-privacy-2012.jpg and the Lightbeam web: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/lightbeam/) will work in a snippet?

If it's too complex to use as a snippet image, we could use the lock image that will be used for the Fx & You January newsletter feature: https://bug950998.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8357875

WDYT?
If we're talking about Lightbeam, the logo by itself should work for a snippet. If something more general, the lock could work.

Cool thing is we have both Lightbeam and the lock logos. Only thing would have to do is update them to SVG once we finalize on what we're going to do.

That feels a bit incomplete to me. I generally wouldn't want to make it much longer, but here's what I'm thinking:

Customize Firefox with your nation's flag and celebrate the global spirit of community that's bringing the world together.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jean. I'm not sure if Lee will work on the Olympics one too or if we'll move this over to Matt. I'll confirm soon.

Hey Jean, Matej and all! We're going ahead with the Data Privacy Day landing page.

So the snippet could be the lock image (https://bug950998.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8357875) sized for the snippet for a graphic.

For copy (Matej, please feel free to write this!), something like: "Mozilla stands for privacy. Visit our Data Privacy Day page (to learn how and take action to protect your privacy)."

What do you guys think?

I think that looks pretty good, but I want to make sure everything is aligned. Lizz, could you add this request to the other Privacy Day bug so Troy has a look at this as well? Thanks.
CTA from the Fx & You newsletter could work well here too: Find out how to protect your privacy online.

Done!
Here's the graphic that's being used for the Fx & You newsletter: https://bug950998.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8358823

Could work well for snippet too!
Hi all - for graphics, Sean Martell mentioned that he has several that came over from the Foundation's work on the stopwatching.us campaign. There are also the designs that didn't get selected for Lightbeam. I know we're short on time, but it might be worth taking a quick look at both of those sources before deciding on the Privacy Day related graphic(s). Sounds like the graphic would be used for: the new landing page, the banner, the blog post, the snippet, the newsletter article, the Privacy Badge.

We actually shouldn't use the mask for snippets, as it's the identity of Private Browsing. Maybe we use the lock or if it translates well into snippet, the Privacy Day 2014 hero graphic Matt T. is creating.
Hi Lizz,

I was planning on using the lock svg that Matt T. already created for the snippet from a different initiative we had. It works well for this campaign, but I can also wait and see what the hero graphic looks like to see which makes sense. Thanks.

No, let's go with the lock - we know for sure it will work.

Here's the final copy from the option you liked, Jean:

It's International Privacy Day! Discover all the ways Mozilla works to keep your privacy secure and how you can take control.
Hi Matej,
Can you confirm if below needs to include "Mozilla, maker of Firefox,...":

It's International Privacy Day! Discover all the ways Mozilla works to keep your privacy secure and how you can take control.

I think it's OK without, especially since it would make it longer. Here's another way we could word it as well:

It's International Privacy Day! Discover all the ways we work to keep your privacy secure and how you can take control.
Flags: needinfo?(Mnovak)
Looking at this again, I think it's actually called "Data Privacy Day." Can someone confirm and update accordingly? Thanks.

Yes, that's correct. Thanks for catching, Matej!

CORRECT:

It's Data Privacy Day! Discover all the ways we work to keep your privacy secure and how you can take control.

Sorry guys, but I think we should tweak this a bit since I would love to run the snippet for more than a day. Is there a way around the word Day? Maybe it can be something like "Data Privacy Week" or "We're supporting Data Privacy Day"....etc. Let me know what you guys think.
Something like this would be more generic:

For Data Privacy Day, discover all the ways we work to keep your privacy secure and how you can take control.

Or we could call out the date (and change "is" to "was" if we want to keep it running after):

January 28 is Data Privacy Day! Discover all the ways we work to keep your privacy secure and how you can take control.
Thanks everyone, only two more things and then I can close this bug!

The first is: do you have a problem with me using the Data Privacy Hero guy image icon for snippets that are pushed out in other locales and pointing them to the Do Not Track SUMO article? I'm pushing this live around the same time as the Data Privacy Day en snippet but didn't want there to be identity confusion with the hero and DNT. Will attach the icon that Matt created.

Second: Will we be creating a static Olympics about:home takeover?

Hi Jean - Is the existing DNT graphic (the one on this page http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/dnt/) too big for the snippet? (the one in the top right corner that says "Do Not Track Your Status Do Not Track is On")
(In reply to Stacy Martin [:stacy] from comment #46)

Hi Stacy,

The problem with using that graphic is 1) too big, and 2) I would need to have those localized as well which is a longer process. Would you prefer a lock? If anything I can just use the Firefox logo but wanted to use something that would catch users' attention. The other thought is we can use a lightbulb as this is considered a tip as well.
That makes perfect sense! How about using the Privacy Day Badge Graphic? Seems less likely to get confused and it's very cute too - a big eye under a magnifying glass with a blue background.

I think it's in this link https://bug959373.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8363979

Haha we are in the same mindset. Take a look at comment 45 :)
Oh that's cute too - with the black background. I don't think that's too confusing with the bigger hero logo (the one with the web page with the black cloud). It ties to it, but seems different enough.
Just had a few last minute snippet requests come up for February. Snippet 40 x 50 svg icon and copy needed for:

-->Live around Feb 4-6 timeframe: Ponemon Institute study....that is not confirmed and we can't announce just yet (can we use the connected dots and lines without the words as an icon?)
--> Live on Feb 11: "The Day We Fight Back" https://thedaywefightback.org/?r=eff (maybe use the eye on the website as an icon?)
--> Live on Feb 12: Fx Launcher/everything.me

Let me know if you have any questions! Thank you.
Flags: needinfo?(jbalaco)
Hi Jean,

I will let you know latter today who will be working on the new requests for February.
Flags: needinfo?(jbalaco)
Hi guys,

I just wanted to follow up on the Olympics bug in Comment 19. Would really love if we could do a takeover (doesn't have to be animated). Let me know if this is still possible! Thanks.
Jean are you in SF today (Monday)? Let's talk in person if so.
Flags: needinfo?(jslater)
Hi Jean,

I just moved these four additional requests to a new bug (964414), since the original request is very close to complete.
I'm going to resolve this bug, since the next set of Snippets are in the new bug.
