Please give more information on which program you installed and which toolbar was installed as a result.

Thank you for your quick response. Its some PC optimizer I installed and a conduit toolbar came up.

There's no distinction between add-ons installed by software and add-ons installed by system administrators. That's why you can't remove them from the Add-ons Manager. Usually, it's enough to uninstall the application that the add-on was bundled with. See the support article for details [1]. When software installs a Firefox add-on, it should be disabled and there should be a prompt asking you if you want to enable the add-on [2].
