Steps to reproduce:

Java Deployment Toolkit (click-to-play) has been blocked for your protection.

O/S windows 8 both java 32 & 64 bit are installed. Plugin doesn't work? Smartsource Java Printer Applet doesn't work? Would this be a result of the blocked Toolkit?

The blocked "Java Deployment Toolkit" doesn't matter.
Do you still have the issue ?

I'm also affected by this bug. The versions of blocked "Java Deployment Toolkit" are 7update67 and 8update25. Firefox is V32.0.3.

I think the reason is the unspecified version that is addressed by bug 636633. Because of restricted access, I'm not able to add this information, so please fix that, if you have access.

Edit: Firefox V33.0 is also affected.

the blocking of "Java Deployment Toolkit" does not matter for the execution of java applets with the java plugin.
The java plugin in the current version is not blocked. According to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=636633#c8 it's expected that all version of the Java Deployment Toolkit are blocked.
