Thunderbird 24.2.0 in Windows 8 Home, the Sent and Draft Folders occasionally appear but often do not.

Details

After installing Thunderbird for several days all worked as expected. All the time mails have been sent and received with no troubles.  Then the Sent and Draft folders could not be seen or found even by looking through all the menus and sub-menus. Uninstalled and re-installed the Folders re-appeared. Two days later they had disappeared but after several closing and re-opening Thunderbird they were seen again once but then disappeared again. Is it possible to recover the Sent Folder, or even see it outside Thunderbird?

I am sure that was mere coincidence.

Anything in tools | error console when the folders are not visible?
Does collapsing the account help?  (click on + or twisty to the left of account name)
