We recently worked with the Creative team to produce these Firefox Marketplace call to action badges:

https://assets.mozillalabs.com/Projects/Firefox%20Marketplace/Badges/

These badges will be used by the Firefox OS apps developers to promote and share the link for the app download in Firefox Marketplace.

We want to offer a localized badge for your locale.

The first step is to provide a translation of the text on, this badge, the text is:

GET IT IN THE Firefox MARKETPLACE

You can look at the url above to see how this is rendered. You may have to adapt a bit the text so as to make it fit in the button. If the text layout on this button represents a challenge for your language, we can brainstorm here and tweak the text and/or the design to make the still button look good for your locale.

Once we have the string translated, we can ask the Designer to actually integrate your text in the button and check that it is correct (fonts /ex).

Thanks

The designers need localized text in ASCII or Unicode will do?
Flags: needinfo?(francesco.lodolo)
To be honest I don't know the answer. Just in case, would it be a problem providing both?
Flags: needinfo?(francesco.lodolo)
Any update?
Still waiting for updates, we may have designer resources but we're stuck without a string.
Unicode:
পাওয়া যাচ্ছে
ফায়ারফক্স
মার্কেটপ্লেসে

ASCII:
cvIqv hv‡”Q
dvqvid·
gv‡K©U‡c‡m

(use a Bengali ASCII font for the above)

Sorry but it doesn't work (the UTF-8 one should be enough): "Firefox MARKETPLACE" needs to remain identical, can't be transliterated.

GET IT IN THE can be localized as, যেখানে পাওয়া যাবে।
Hey Francesco,

the community suggested more translations for, "GET IT IN THE"

a. ঘুরে দেখুন
b. পেতে চাইলে চলে আসুন
c. আপনাকে স্বাগতম

is it possible to use all of these and show us the artwork to comment and select the best one.
Please always write the entire string, I want to avoid any possible confusion.

Given how much time it takes for us to get these images done, I would advise against it.

b seems definitely too long for one line of text (have you seen the images linked in comment 0?)
a is probably safer in terms of length.

Sorry, I shall from now on.

Yes, we all seen the images. The first line seems to be in smaller font size.

> a is probably safer in terms of length.

The community now suggesting d. ঘুরে আসুন as in the following; this is small too and express almost same as in English

ঘুরে আসুন
FIREFOX
MARKETPLACE
OK, let's try to use (string added in r131096).

ঘুরে আসুন Firefox MARKETPLACE

We'll get back here for review as soon as we have the image. Let's leave the bug open for now.
Mak, does this image look good?

a vowel sign didn't rendered in correct way. Check my attachment, it should appear like this way.

Thanks, unfortunately we're having issues with hi-IN, ta, bn-BD.
Hi Tannie

We need your help on this one too. String in comment #11. Thanks!

Marketplace Badge attached!

Flod, in case you're curious, I had to use InDesign or Illustrator's text engine - Photoshop still doesn't work for me, even after switching settings. So I make the text string in Illustrator, convert to Outlines, and copy to Photoshop as a Shape Layer.
Can you use the attached font and rework the artwork, this is a font most widely used for outdoor visuals in Bangladesh.

Attached using 'SolaimanLipi' font.

Peiying, Mahay - this font is more calligraphic. 'Vrinda' is the system font from the first badge I posted. I will use 'Vrinda' for the FxOS screenshots unless you prefer otherwise.

I am ok with 'Vrinda'
Thanks for getting this to work. Is this officially approved?

Tannie, should I tell the Adobe guys that their suggestion didn't work as straightforward as we hoped. Should I tell them what you are doing to make it to work?
You can tell them that, after changing to Eastern font support:

1) Existing Photoshop documents still rendered fonts incorrectly
2) New Photoshop documents seemed to render fonts correctly
3) AI & ID render fonts just fine

I created InDesign files with the artwork as a background, and created all new text boxes in InDesign to place strings.

In the future future ;) we could use InDesign to automatically generate these screenshots using Data Merge.
Revised Badge - used better font.

Hi Mak, could you confirm if all looks good?
