If you try to "edit page" (ctrl-e or from the menu) on a jpeg image, the editor
loads all the way and then pops an error saying "this type of page can't be
edited." Since the editor sometimes takes quite a while to load, and ctrl-e is
close enough to both ctrl-r and ctrl-w that there's a significant opportunity
for typos, this is a real pain. It would be a lot better if it could check the
type of page being viewed and pop an error before even loading the editor.

On another note, it would be really nice to be able just not have the editor
there at all, or at least be able to disable the ctrl-e shortcut. I never, ever,
ever use the editor, but at least once a week I inadvertently launch it (and
have to wait for it to load) when I mean to reload (ctrl-r) or close the window
(ctrl-w).

Looks like this is a UI design issue of SeaMonkey.

Component: DOM: Editor → Composer
Product: Core → SeaMonkey

When viewing an image ctrl-e is no longer active in the current 2.53 build. Probably fixed some time ago.
