Steps to reproduce:

Out of the many sent/received messages, some might be very important to the user (let's say some password or e-ticket or something important).It would be beneficial to the user if there is an option to enable protection to such messages so that if the user is deleting a bulk of messages including the important ones, an alert will notify him the same. Deletion can be carried on only after disabling protection.

Above Ux flow can be changed.Other possible Ux flow is:
When user enable protection for any message then, deleting option(tick box) will be disabled when user is deleting in bulk.
if user is specially deleting that messages (i.e protection enabled):
>then alert should come like "protected message. are you sure?" or "protected message. Delete?"
>or then alert should come like "Disable protection!." (good and suitable message will be in alert, above is for only a demo).
Then only after disable protection, it can be deleted.

Hello Kumar, I think it's a useful function but may not be necessary. At this point we can't add any new feature, I'll have to discuss this with our PM to see if this fits our future feature planning. Thanks for the advice!

Jenny, the plan is that Kumar works on it alone (with technical guidance from Gabriele and myself, and of course support from you and Vicky for design), and that it's not due for any version. It will ship when ready !

What we need to know if it's something we'd like, and we need some specs (even rough) to start working.

Ohhh I see, personally I think it's a nice to have feature and would like to see it landing. However, I won't be able to provide a rough spec until next month. Before I get back to you, a few things to think about:
1) The protection function applies to messages from message thread list view OR messages in a thread (or both)? 
2) When deleting messages, do we show those messages under protection? 
3) Since the messages under protection most likely contain important info, should we somehow provide a faster way for user to access those messages? 
4) (just a thought) Maybe we can somehow expand this function to support cases where user want to "hide" the message? Important message can contain sensitive message that user doesn't want it to be seen by others accidentally.

I would like to give my views on this.
First of all lock message and hide messages are two different scenario , it will be better if we not include in scope of this bug.
OK coming to point ,you suggested some points in above comments :
Taking account the new interaction proposal (as per omega proposal)
1.lock message should be for message not for thread list as only very few messages are required to lock.
2.when deleting messages or thread list in bulk and if that contain locked messages, then there will be a option to mark check box to include locked messages.If user deletes that locked message only then a confirmation box should be there.

Till here what I wrote is based on my experience using android phone.
3.This functionality is not in android.for this I can suggest ..Add an option somewhere to show locked messages only.
