Steps to reproduce:

I installed thunderbird 24(since 17ESR is EOL).
I started it up and the theme no long works at all in the right-hand part of the UI, this changed in thunderbrid22.0b, I went back through each version from 18->24 and I noticed that _something_ changed in version 22.0b that made the left-hand panel where mail is listed/newsfeeds are.


Actual results:

It's messed up and is not using the proper color from the gtk+ color scheme. This _only_ happens in thunderbird and is _only_ something with the newer thunderbird.


Expected results:

It should've colored itself properly.

right there you go, also it reordered my accounts. It's now email,email, blogs and news. Whereas before it was email blogs & news, email.

As you can see the color on the left-hand side is wrong, it _used_ to be the same color as the window elements IE the list of messages, the left-hand side had the _same_ exact color and had been since well forever ago. Whenever I started using that theme with GNOME 2.0, it was sometime in 2006, thunderbird had always respected my theme's coloring. I tried another GTK+2 theme that had similar(lots of coloring) and it did the same just not as jarring.

Looks like bug 935023 to me, which never seems to have landed on the 24.x ESR branch. The grainy structure and grayish color was added in bug 845819, which wasn't looking good on dark GTK themes.

This may be a little late in the 24.x ESR cycle given that 31.0 enters the aurora phase next week and will have that patch (this will be the next "major" Thunderbird release coming up in 12 weeks).

Also an issue that I have is that you've reordered the folders inside of thunderbird along the way too, it _now_ makes it so that news feeds are at the _very_ bottom and I don't know _what_ you've done but I do know that it's extremely _annoying_ that that's been done with _no_ options to reorder them.

I understand, but in general there is one bug report for one issue, and this one is a different one.
It may be a change that was intentional or happened somewhere as a regression between 17 and 24, but assuming that you think it's a bug, please file a new report on that issue.

Josiah, based on your comment #6, I'm confirming this bug to take care of the comm-esr24 patch, unless you want to reopen bug 935023 instead.

I had to get x64 thunderbird 31 ESR as your site doesn't list it for some unknown reason for linux and I don't want to clutter up my system with 32bit libs if I don't have to. But anyway it works now. And I don't have to do the work around for my userchrome.

well yeah I generally try to get back to people on bugs that I've reported, as I know that people have jobs to do and I'd rather not hold them up if I'm free.
