1002182 - Difference in double-tap behavior between Chrome and Aurora

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open http://www.embedded.com/electronics-blogs/break-points/4429960/How-much-energy-can-you-really-get-from-a-coin-cell-
2) Double-tap to zoom/unzoom

Actual results:

Nothing happens

Expected results:

Should zoom/unzoom since Chrome on Android does so.


Based on comments in Bug 941995 and Bug 1001563 either Chrome is broken or Firefox is not matching the expected behavior of "width=device-width" webpages.  I am not versed enough to know which is true.

Aurora version: 30.0a2 (2014-04-25)
Chrome version: 34.0.1847.114
Device: Nexus 10 (Android 4.4.2) in portrait mode

Our behaviour is not exactly the same as that of Chrome. There was some discussion to this point in bug 941995 (see comments 27-29 and 36-37). We ended up with a slightly different implementation than they have, and this bug is an example of a page that behaves differently. I agree that their implementation behaves better on this page, but I'd like to wait for more feedback before considering changing our code. In particular I'd like to see what kind of feedback Chrome has gotten and if there are cases their implementation doesn't do as well as ours on.
