(Keywords: crash, Whiteboard: dup of bug 86591?)

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:0.9.4) Gecko/20010915
BuildID: 2001091520

Plugins fail to register in /usr/local/mozilla/plugins properly. Some plugins
work, but others do not:

Shockwave 5.0r52 plugin works
Realplayer 8 plugin works
plugger 3.3 does not work (plugger.so)
Acrobat 4.05 does not work (nppdf.so)
Timidity does not work (ump.so)
Java 1.3.x plugin registers but crashes when invoked

also following errors are generated at startup:

LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/ShockwaveFlash.class [ld.so.1: ./mozilla-bin:
fatal: /usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/ShockwaveFlash.class: unknown file type]
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/ump.so [ld.so.1: ./mozilla-bin: fatal: relocation
error: file /usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/ump.so: symbol _XmStrings: referenced
symbol not found]
LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library
/usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/raclass.zip [ld.so.1: ./mozilla-bin: fatal:
/usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/raclass.zip: unknown file type]

Let me know if you need any help testing fixes on this......

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.install plugins above in plugin directory
2.run browser
3.check about plugins
4. point browser to java.sun.com

Actual Results: browser crash
Could you try a talkback build and attach the incident ID to this bug?
Otherwise, could you run under a debugger and get a stack trace of the crash?

> Acrobat 4.05 does not work (nppdf.so)

Known bug, already filed, fix being reviewed.

> Timidity does not work (ump.so)

That one looks like it's looking for a function (_XmStrings) which does not
exist... Not sure what's up with that. Please file a separate bug on it; let's
focus this one on the java crash.

Keywords: crash
OS: SunOS → Solaris
The _XmStrings error looks like bug 69167, but I think that fix made it into the
0.9.4 branch so who knows...
could you try without
/usr/local/mozilla/./plugins/ump.so
the fatal error from ld [ld.so.1: ./mozilla-bin: fatal: relocation error..]
looks suspicion
I have tried running this with the Java plugin only, the result is still a crash
with the same error.
>with the same error
with [ld.so.1: ./mozilla-bin: fatal: relocation error... symbol _XmStrings:
referenced symbol not found]]?
or something else?

Note: On UNIX, the Java plugin may crash if used after visiting about:plugins.
See bug 86591 for that fix.
From bug 102667, this bug only seems to appear if about Help:About plugins is
checked first.

"- Start Mozilla with Java, Flash, RealPlayer plugins installed, open
Java-enabled website -> works

- Exit Mozilla

- Start Mozilla again, check "about:plugins" (Java, Flash and RealPlayer get
listed), open same Java-enabled website as before -> Mozilla crashes with core.
I checked this several times. A colleague of mine also checked it on his
workstation at home. Always the same behaviour."

I can confirm this with build 2001100122 under Sparc Solaris 7.

The error message just before the crash is:
Internal error: Null plugin managerSegmentation Fault - core dumped

The core dump yields:
#0  0xfcf4c038 in JavaVM5::AllocateEventWidget ()
   from
/net/pchelka/space/crumley/local/j2re1_3_1/plugin/sparc/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so
Works for me on Solaris 2.8 build 20011101 095 branch (JRE 1.3.1). Seems this is
dup of 86591: I comented out fix for 86591 and
after that bug 100278 has been reproduced. If fix for 86591
is applied bug is not reproducible. I propose to close as dup of 86591
Whiteboard: dup of bug 86591?
Looks like this bug was fixed by fix for 86591.
Reporter, is this problem still reproduced for you ?
Otherwise please close bug.
