User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140421221237

Steps to reproduce:

When I set Windows 8 borders colors to black all the inactive tabs in Firefox 29 are not visible.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Default theme should be able to adapt to the system theme color.
Severity: normal → major
Component: Untriaged → Theme
Can you confirm:
1) that/if after changing the color to black, saving the setting and closing the control panel windows for it, and then restarting Firefox, the tab foreground color is still black ?
2) that/if you upgraded this Windows 8 machine from Windows 7?

Finally, if you're familiar with the registry editor, could you open it to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM

and take a screenshot of the values there?

Thank you!

Thanks! Those registry entries will need more investigation, but an immediate question I have is: how come your titlebar color for regedit is white? It is black for me when I change my titlebar colors on my Windows 8 machine (which was also installed from scratch, and upgraded to 8.1).

We added a registry reading hack to change the color for dark themes by reading the value of ColorizationColor in that list your screenshot shows, but it seems to be working imperfectly (both in the sense that sometimes, we don't switch to white when we should be, and sometimes we're switching to white when we shouldn't be). We don't yet understand why. Do you use any kind of third-party tool to affect the Windows theme?

Oh, i'm sorry I forgot to mention. I'm using a custom theme in which there are only two changes made, titlebar active and inactive color. I't was a long time ago so I started thinking It's a default windows theme.

Interesting. Can you reproduce with the default windows theme? :-)

I will be able to grab a screenshot in about 2h, but I've tried that before and i can confirm, the result was identical.

Since bug 1004576 has tracking, I'm duping this over.
