* Like a super-simple and fun 3-question quiz. Tailored in particular to people who care about the Firefox brand.

* This fills a key strategic need: we're wasting potential of key Mozilla channels (like the Firefox and You newsletter, or Firefox snippet, for example) because our standard CTAs (make something, find an event, host an event) are *way too high*
* Andrea: can we start drafting a prototype "quiz" here:
https://etherpad.mozilla.org/Maker-Party-quiz
* Andrea this was such a great idea of yours at All Hands -- I'd like to push ahead on it with you. It will also inform some of the landing page work we're starting on.

* Do you have links for any *examples* of how you've seen this kind of thing done well at other orgs / campaigns?

Just to flag, I love the introductory quiz here: http://discoverabl.es (also, friends of Mozilla)

Marking this as a blocker for the Mozilla.org banner, as we need to have a consistent CTA for Mozillians/Firefox people.
The Discoverable.es example is really adorbs (I can picture a dinosaur cartoon). I'm looking around, and have asked M+R (our online strategy firm) to pass along examples. I'll drop them here. I like the use of "sliders" from a UX perspective. I also re-experienced the "glow" site we used for Australis (it's not awesome for this purpose, but it's not a bad example of data/infographic interractivity): https://webwewant.mozilla.org/en/. It's definitely not scientific, but people like to see how they fit into a "whole". We might be able to get usable data on the four areas of focus (i forget what they are? "Building, Collaborating, something something)

* Loving this thread. Thanks Drushka, Doug and Andrea.

* I'm trying to track this work here:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Webmaker/Landing_Pages

* We're meeting on this Thurs May 15 -- so that we can try to update, assign roles, triage, etc.
* I love this discoverables survey -- but it broke for me right at the end!

* It feels much too long -- but +1 to Andrea's point about the sliders, fun graphics, etc.
Oh no! Sorry discoverabl.es dropped the ball at the end of your survey, Matt. The main thing, though, was the ideas behind it.

Andrea, the Web Literacy strands are Exploring, Building and Connecting (https://webmaker.org/literacy). We've added 'Facilitating' for Webmaker Training, for obvious reasons. :-)
This is an oldie but maybe has some creative nuggets. M+R scoped out this exact idea (easy entry CTA for making), but it is from a couple of years ago.

We took some various notes here that will need to be pulled out and cleaned up

@ Sackin: you seem to be leading the charge on this, which is awesome. I'll try to attend meetings, etc, but can I assign this one to you to take point on?

Let's have Hannah own it -- I'm happy to help lead, though I think it needs a lot of input from Amira and Andrea and Drushka too. But Hannah can shepherd it to fruition I think.

Thanks!

* I'm gonna take this next, to do some scoping on design and dev implications of "make a thing in 15 seconds"

FYI Matt, here's a visual of how this CTA will be applied on the Mozilla homepage: https://www.dropbox.com/s/beg5gjrglrdpl6u/makerparty_mozbannermockups.jpg
Any progress on this, Matt?

* We had a good meeting on this yesterday. TLDR:

* We're going to work with Atul to explore creating a unique Maker Party CTA that allows users to "hack the Firefox start page"

* It will be like the Google Rubik's Cube Doodle. But will weave in a hacking / get your hands dirty with code / play a game type vibe.

* This CTA is unique to the Firefox snippet work -- it should not create a blocker or dependencies for anything else we're doing with Maker Party

* Andrea has talked to Jean and scheduled a meeting for next week. Matt will talk to Atul today.

* Moving this to [june13] train.

Update: Jean Collings and the snippet team are crafting a simple creative brief to get signoff from Pete Scanlon and Mary Ellen Muckerman to experiment and "hack" at the snippet for Webmaker. I added some thoughts to the doc but it's solid. Stay tuned for a rescheduled meeting time to kick off the project.
nice! will do.

Question for you Andrea: Do you think this CTA should also go on the Mozilla homepage Maker Party banner( Bug 999044 )? Or will it only make sense for the snippet?
Flags: needinfo?(andrea)
* Hey Erika! this work should not be a blocker for 999044. It's focused just on the snippet, and will probably be a "hack the snippet" theme that will only make sense there

* moving to next train, as work is ongoing

Hey All,

I'd love to see the creative brief. Atul and I are going to play around with the concept this week.
Flags: needinfo?(andrea)
@ Jess: the creative brief, such as it is, us here
https://etherpad.mozilla.org/landing-pages

* Plus my PDF with three potential concepts:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/images/5/51/Hack_the_Start_Page_Concepts.pdf
* One note: the flow should end with the user being incented to create a Webmaker account. As a way to save and share their work. And/or opt in to email updates about Maker Party.

* We met with MoCo colleagues on this today -- great meeting.

* Next step: going to close this one out and refile some new ones Thursday morning

* Need to create a snippet sandbox with Atul, then start testing working prototypes based on Jess's designs
+1 Matt, just some notes on bugs we need:

* final designs for snippet
* design of snippet landing page on Webmaker
* sandbox implementation
* copy tickets for snippet language
* copy tickets for landing language.
* gotta love that thoroughness Jess :) two of those are filed already -- will file
