Steps to reproduce:

I open a new tab by selecting the + symbol after the rightmost tab at the top of the screen.


Actual results:

This displays www.google.com which has been set to my home page. The cursor stays on the URL search bar and does not move to the Google search bar.  If I also repeat the process but load TradeMe from my bookmarks the cursor also stays in the URL search box.


Expected results:

The cursor should have moved to the search bar on the displayed page.  It used to do this before.

Your steps to reproduce are incorrect. Opening a new tab opens the New Tab Page (about:newtab). You've changed what opens in a new tab, using either an add-on or by modifying the browser.newtab.url preference.

When opening a new tab, focus stays on the location bar so that you can type an address or perform a search. If you want to allow web pages to give focus to their search boxes, you can use the Custom New Tab add-on.

You mean you click + to open a new tab, then you open http://www.trademe.co.nz from a bookmark? If so, I can't reproduce this: focus goes to the search box on the web page, as expected. Please test in a brand new profile. Don't modify any preferences and don't install any add-ons.
