when trying to log in to finance.yahoo.com using
0.9.4, I am getting an error message "cookies diabled,
you need to enable cookies to log in". I have
cookies enabled in my preferences, and restarting
Mozilla does not help.

What do you have cookies enabled to? Always or originating-server-only?

Do you have any sites listed in the cookies sites list of the cookie manager?

I just went to http://finance.yahoo.com, clicked on sign-in, entered my username
and password, and was successfully signed in. So I'll presume that the problem
was one of the items that I mentioned in my comment above, and I'll close this
out as works-for-me. If I'm wrong, then please reopen this report.

Admittedly I did use winNT and the reporter was on ME. But it's unlikely that
that could make a difference.
