User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140421221237 Steps to reproduce: Browse to a random webpage, close Firefox. After some time, try to re-open Firefox to browse to another webpage. Additional info: This bug is NOT dependent on plugins. It will ONLY work if you configure the privacy option with the following settings: Advanced settings for history: - Accept cookies from webpages - Delete history when Firefox closes If you configure Firefox to delete the history when Firefox closes, the Firefox process will hang. I did not have this problem under the older versions of Firefox. I tried a fresh reinstall, including deletion of cache, etc, this did NOT solve my problem. I have also tried running Firefox in Administrator-mode, this also does NOT solve the problem. It is very frustrating to say the least, that you have to close the process everytime after you have visited a webpage. Turning of the option to automatically delete history solves the problem... Actual results: Firefox gave me an error message stating that the Firefox.exe process was still running. It had to be closed manually via task manager. Expected results: Firefox.exe process should close on closure of the program.

Second process which opens when you try to open Firefox again (so a new session/webpage) after you closed Firefox
I was not able to reproduce on Linux using Firefox 29 with a new profile.

If needed, I can provide additional system info or tests. Just tell me what to do/provide. I can also test via Visual Studio if Firefox provides output that way?

I couldn't reproduce on FF 29, Win 7 x64. Please check if the issue occurs using Firefox in safe mode (with your addons disabled): http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode And on a new, empty profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager

The safe-mode solution does NOT solve the issue. A new profile solves the issue UNTILL I re-add my bookmarks and enable the bookmark bar. When I change the following options (with a new profile) Firefox will have the same error message again: - Display bookmark bar - (import my bookmarks and display them on the bookmark bar) The option to delete history works fine aslong as I do not have the bookmark bar enabled and no bookmarks on there.

NOTE: I currently have no addons in Firefox, so it can NOT be an addon.

I just tested again. The issue lies within the bookmark bar. NOT displaying the bookmark bar solves the issue. Displaying the bookmark bar reproduces the issue.

On a clean profile, I added 15 pages to the bookmarks bar and still not able to reproduce, FF 29, Win 7 x64. How many bookmarks do you have ?

Lets concentrate the investigation on a single bug. Bug 1005487 has already been filed before and we got some more information. That one sounds identical.

On the bookmark bar I have 3 folders with bookmarks. In those folders are more folders with more bookmarks. Have you tried this? I can hardly imagine that restoring my bookmarks via a html file causes these issues. Anyways, I'm glad I am not the only one reporting this problem! Would it be possible to be kept up-to-date on progress with this bug? How do I do this?
