I'm using TB 24 with Lightning 2.6.4 in XP Pro 32-bit as well as Win7 Pro 64-bit. And I use Google Calendar with CalDAV.
Here are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1. Create a new event
2. Open any text editor and type any text
3. Insert a "tab" character into the text
4. Copy-n-paste the text into the event's description
5. Save & close the event.
6. Open the event again
At this point, the "tab" character would become the letter "t". So it seems like the tab character was not correctly encapsulated during save.
Additional information:
1. This issue does not occur when the calendar is stored in local computer.
2. I have no idea if the issue occurs for ICS or WCAP as I don't have access to such systems.
3. Google Calendar is my only CalDAV server so I have no idea if the issue is really related to CalDAV or Google Calendar.
4. I had seen this problem well before TB 24. It must have been here for quite some time.

It would be interesting to test this on a different CalDAV server too, maybe someone else can check. There are other free caldav servers available, for example yahoo or fruux.com. There is also a VM of a sogo server available at http://www.sogo.nu/downloads/zeg.html

Hmm, I see. "tab" does not match to "tabulator"... Bugzilla's search function is not that smart.

Here are the test results from different CalDAV servers:
* GMail --> the single letter t
* Yahoo --> the characters \t
* fruux --> the REAL tab char <tab>
* duplic-solutions.fr --> \t
Note: duplic-solutions.fr is a not a public/free CalDAV server
I'm using the latest TB 52.2.1 + LT 5.4.2.1
