User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140506152807
Steps to reproduce:
Just open a new tab, or switch to tabs.
Actual results:
The title of the tab disappeared so I could not know which tab was which.
If I click on the taskbar and unselect firefox, the names appear
Expected results:
I should be able to see the name of the website in the tab. If i receive a new facebook message I cannot see that I have as it doesn't say "Facebook(1)" it is just blank instead.

Our logic for determining the titlebar color is not optimal in 29 (sadly, Windows doesn't really expose good APIs for this) and so we picked the wrong color in your case.
Could you try using a beta build ( http://beta.mozilla.org/ ) and checking if it's fixed there? (we improved the logic in bug 1004576, which has landed on beta)

I have exactly the same issue with the beta build, everything appears identical.

As in the titles aren't there unless I deselect the browser window.

Right. This is really unfortunate. Can you help us by providing the following information, please?
- did you upgrade this machine from Windows 7, or did it come with Windows 8?
- are you using the default windows theme, and/or did you ever change anything to do with the windows theme?
- can you go into Windows' control panel > "Appearance and Personalization" > "Personalization" ("change the theme"), and click "Color" at the bottom, then click the "Show color mixer" button if visible, and take a screenshot of this window and attach it to this bug?
- can you open the registry editor ("regedit") and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM , and take a screenshot of the regedit window in that state?

I did a clean install of Windows 8
I am using my own theme where I changed the backgrounds and colour to purple

Are you using custom software for this, or is this a regular Windows 8 theme (can you right click on it and "save theme for sharing" from the theme list in Windows 8) ?
I'm also kind of confused by you saying you changed the colour to purple - your screenshots all have white titlebars. What colours do you mean?

I'm using normal software, I just changed the backgrounds to a slideshow of images, clicked "colour" and selected a purple colour so that the taskbar would change colour

Good news!!!
It turns out it was a bug with windows. I moved the slider for colour in my theme and the top of the bars changed colour, I can now see the titles! I have no idea how long it's been white for, I thought something seemed a bit off.

Hrm. I mean, I'm happy it works for you now... but do you know when the titlebars started going white instead of purple? You're not the first person with this problem and we're kind of lost as to what causes it...

Sorry but I can't actually remember. Apparently they haven't been there for a very long time, but on the previous version of firefox the font colour of the titles was black instead of white. It's likely a windows update related thing, wondering if it's before or after the announcement of 8.1.

No worries. I guess we'll close this one as "works for me" and hope there's not too many other people with this issue...
