This sounds crazy. What if you have 100 bookmarks in a folder? I guess we could only load a few tabs, then create zombies for the rest. But until we have a way to close all tabs, this sounds like it could lead to a tab mess.

Eh, we need better mobile bookmark folder support so that people don't in the first place have too many bookmarks in a single folder. I've wanted this, but I also for the longest time wanted mobile folder support.

Agree that having some kind of better tab management would be good: a queue of pages to open, some kind of grouping, some kind of bulk tab handling, ...
Advocate: if I have a high-end tablet, what's wrong with opening 100 pages in tabs? I can do it (and probably regret it more!) in desktop on a single-core Atom netbook... and perhaps this is a user wanting to open her 10 "daily visited" sites. She's not trying to open 100 tabs.
I can see two half-decent ameliorations:
* Menu item is "Open 73 bookmarks in tabs".
* Show a toast, just like Gmail: "Opened 73 tabs. Undo"

Yes, we need to consider the extreme cases. Opening tabs zombified is a *must* IMO.

Better bookmark folder tabs will not guarantee people will not hit the extreme cases of 100s or 1000s of bookmarks in a folder.

Both of these seem like good ideas. I think we also need a "max" number and I suggest a number less than 100. We don't need to help the user get into trouble.

Desktop uses browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn which is set to 15.

I don't think this is something we want in the first round of improvements to our bookmarks management
