44 spam messages in the past 2 days. 65 in the past 10 days. It's coming via Google Groups. People replying to it seems to fuel it more.
I think it's time to make the newsgroup moderated.

If you are going to make a support group moderated, you may want to consider adding an extra moderator, in a different timezone - because otherwise the group will grind to a halt when you go on holiday, or go to sleep :-).

Giganews message removal tool doesn't seem to be working. I had reported it as bug 1012856. They fixed it 2 weeks ago, but it looks like it stopped working a couple of days ago. This means I can't moderate anything, so I need this bug fixed more than ever.

What is the next action on this? We've had 32 spam messages in the past 10 days - 24 of them in past 3 days.
I'm getting people posting to the forum asking about it:
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/mozilla.support.firefox/hW_HsuT-OqA/n-G9XGNx0A4J
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/mozilla.support.firefox/UJNX1oxMRvU/eHFg_sM5P58J
I don't want to be that guy who posts on a bug asking when it will be fixed, but I'd like to do what I can to help speed this along.

It looks like Giganews has made the change. I started getting moderator notifications on Saturday morning. On Saturday, there were a couple of messages via Google Groups that appeared in the group before I approved them, and another on Sunday morning, which worried me.
On Monday morning, we got a flood of 10 spam messages via Google Groups, and luckily they didn't appear in the newsgroup. Reason in the mailman notification "The message headers matched a filter rule".
Maybe it just took a couple of days for Google to pick up the change. In any case, when we get more messages via Google Groups, I'll post the results in this bug.

Got 2 messages via GG today. One was spam, the other was not. Neither appeared in the newsgroup before I went through them, and the non-spam post appeared after I approved it.
So things look good from here.
