Assigning to Doug as he's been leading this
@ Doug: can we ship this on the [june13] train?
Whiteboard: [mentorbadge] → [mentorbadge] [may30]
Yep, just catching up with this after long weekend. I asked for community feedback by today: https://teach.etherpad.mozilla.org/webmaker-mentor-badge
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED

Depends on: 1010141
OK, I've added that this depends on Bug 1010141 which we're still discussing in terms of criteria.

Matt, am I correct in thinking that what's being asked for here is the Mentor badge version of this? https://webmaker.mofostaging.net/badges/webmaker-super-mentor

Yes, exactly.

Given Michelle's feedback in Bug 1010141 let's try this.

Please give feedback on Option A or Option B in this etherpad: https://teach.etherpad.mozilla.org/webmaker-mentor-badge
Flagging Laura to review as well.

Option A: A Webmaker Mentor is a precursor to Super Mentor (i.e. take Super Mentor criteria and remove a few items)
Option B: A Webmaker Mentor is someone who's completed training (i.e. take training curriculum and write criteria around it).

I'm leaning towards Option A because:

* substantively, it covers the same ground as the training-based criteria
* it's simpler and shows clearer progression to Super Mentor

I agree with option A for those same reasons. Also, because we now have the 4 participation badges for Training, a mentor badge could have multiple pathways (which are TBD AFAIK).

Made more notes in the pad.

Thanks Michelle and Laura. Let's go with Option A.

Per your suggestions in the etherpad, how about the following? (note replacement of 'community leadership' with 'community contribution')

-----

Web Literacy:
* You can demonstrate many of the skills and can explain most of the competencies from the Web Literacy Map

Teaching and learning:
* You can explain learning through making, connected learning, and the educational value of the Open Web
* You created or remixed an openly-licensed resource using Webmaker tools to teach skills and competencies from the Web Literacy Map

Community contribution:
* You contribute to the Webmaker community through testing, peer feedback, community calls, mailing lists or other channels

Love. Let's lock and load!

Logging here (since it was in the etherpad) that we removed the req to teach at or throw an event. Think that's smart and we should make sure our contribution pathways show when and how it makes sense to do events, as something apart from earning your mentor badge (which is more about concepts and methods).

SHIP IT!

FYI - To earn the "Facilitator" badge in training, earner has to provide evidence that they ran a playtesting event (at least kitchen table): http://badges.p2pu.org/en/badge/view/430/

Thanks both! Marking this resolved fixed (+Cassie, Kate)

(Laura, as we're going with Option A, the Mentor badge is distinct from the Training badges, so it's all good)
