As discussed in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1009785#c4 , CKR_MECHANISM_INVALID is mapped to SEC_ERROR_INVALID_ALGORITHM, but the converse is not true - SEC_ERROR_INVALID_ALGORITHM is not mapped to CKR_MECHANISM_INVALID by freebl/softoken See http://mxr.mozilla.org/nss/source/lib/softoken/pkcs11c.c#95
