User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140506152807
Steps to reproduce:
Hi, since there is no apparent place where users can tell firefox team "what you think", I am filinjg this as a bug. Sorry if it is not appropriate, but it is not that far from the truth. I have stopped recommending FF to my friends years ago and this release will certainly not change that. The only reason I stick with FF is the user created add-ons. NO OTHER REASON exists.
Actual results:
After updating, the new update almost totally broken my layout, buttons, search customization, button sizes and texts etc. I am not talking about simple menu bar being invisible. For example the menu button on the right now consists of some twenty icons and makes the toolbar 2 inches thick. I will customize this in the end but it will take time. It will take time as it always does. Why can't you ake one release that doens't destroy my customization? I am not against new layouts but I don't have time to re-customize right away. I need to get to it on my free time. Right now using FF is a headache and I have two deadlines looming over me. You hjave just made my life so much "easier", sigh.
Expected results:
You should have made a release that does not destroy user customization. I am so fed up with FF right now, i have been fed up with it for such a long time. oif it werent for the cool addons i would be gone long. You behave just like google, just like any other corporation. you have your "vision" and you go after it. you dont care if it takes my time. i dont matter for you. no big surprise, corporates
Slowly making this release useable and just a few more notes and I will not be using mockery this time.
Tip: just because it seems logical to tie "favorite" and "bookmarks" button together doesnt mean that there isnt another logic that makes it logical to have them in separate places. this ui is a joke. an incredible joke! i cant wait for FF30. the motto should be " look what we mangled this time!"
I've relly had it this time. im gonna go check opera and chrome. it cant be worse than this.

Can you post a screenshot? It's not meant to be 2 inches (5cm odd), or have 20 icons.

If things keep breaking, it sounds like something is wrong. We're certainly not aiming to break your customizations every release. Can you elaborate on what broke with, say, 28?

We're a non-profit, and a lot of the work is done by volunteers. We work hard to make a great browser for hundreds of millions of people. Unfortunately, it's not possible to please all those people all the time, and so sometimes we have to make tradeoffs that might not match what you in particular want us to do. We're sorry about that, but equally, it can't really be helped unless we decided to not change anything anymore - in which case, we'd probably lose most of our users in a right hurry, if only because the way some things work today are considered bugs by some and features by others.

If you have comments or suggestions to send to Mozilla, open the Help menu and choose Submit Feedback, or click the ≡ Menu Button, then the Question Mark icon, then Submit Feedback.
https://input.mozilla.org/feedback
If you have problems with Firefox, head over to the Mozilla Support site. Use the Reset Firefox feature to fix whatever issues you're having. If you have a multitude of icons crammed into the address bar or navigation toolbar, that's caused by broken add-ons like RSS Icon 1.0.6.

If appearance and functionality are the issue, install the Classic Theme Restorer add-on.

:Gijs Kruitbosch, Gingerbread Man,
thank you both for writing back. I appreciate and value your effort to help me. I have been in love with FF for a long time and this release has really got me depressed. So any kind word helps me get thru.

With all due respect and I am sorry this will sound offensive but sincerely, from the bottom of my heart I have no trust in FF developers ever using my input for anything good. There are so many issues that have been present for such a long time it's like the developers just keep on spitting into user's faces. im sorry for being so rude to only two people who were actually nice enough to try to help me. Please don't take my comments personally.
Example: how come the bookmarks search still does not include bookmark folder names? and that is no small issue. thats like blatantly huge, gigantic bug thats been present for many years.

I understand and accept all this, but that is not a valid reason for removing functionality. few examples: i had my layout perfected to be fast for my workflow. now i cannot use the same layout because "back/forward" buttons are glued to the web address slot. why on earth would anyone, ever, even remotely try to dream of considering committing anything like that? what good can this do? same goes for "bookmark star" and "show bookmarks" buttons. how? how can anyone do this??? it makes no sense. sigh. why do i even try...
re:If appearance and functionality are the issue, install the Classic Theme Restorer add-on.
thank you, i will probably give it a try. i am just depressed about all the time wasted in this. i am trying to test the other browsers, because i am just so disappointed with FF, i would like to leave it behind, but it all comes down to time, time, time. i cant believe something like internet browser customization takes so much of my time. i dont think it should.

youre almost correct. it was an appearance-related issue. i was wrong to blame it on FF
re:If things keep breaking, it sounds like something is wrong. We're certainly not aiming to break your customizations every release. Can you elaborate on what broke with, say, 28?
what i meant was that with every release i have to fight to get some of the old functionality back. i dont keep track of the issues. i cant write you a list. the buttons glued together (see above) is a very good example of one such "improvement".
sigh. again, sorry, for not having any nice things for you guys. nothing personal. if anything i admire your kindness in replying to my extremely frustrated and depressed original post. thanks for your time and for trying to help me.
regards,
K

That information may be in the respective bug reports. If you're going to read
them, please don't add any comments there. I suggest you instead just look
at the add-ons that work around the issues.

Bug 755598.
Classic Theme Restorer can separate the buttons from the address bar.
If you need detailed directions, see one of my posts.

Bug 880399.
Again, Classic Theme Restorer can stick the star icon back in
the address bar. In the Add-ons Manager, Extensions category, click
the Options button next to Classic Theme Restorer.

I'm inclined to think that's a hyperbolic statement. Features are certainly
not removed or changed with every single version. As far as appearance is
concerned, the last major reworking of the user interface came with Firefox 4,
released on March 22nd 2011. Between then and Firefox 28, you shouldn't have
had any issues with your toolbar customizations.

I can't say I understand why you don't want to post your thoughts on the
appropriate site. Registration isn't required.
You've described things that are the result of intentional changes, and
one problem that was the result of an add-on. That makes this report invalid.
If there's an actual flaw that needs to be addressed here, please provide
details and the exact steps to reproduce so that this report can be reopened.

@Gingerbread Man:
Huge respect to your great reply. I will go thru the whole post as my time allows me to. For now - I have finally found some time to adjust the new FF and here is an interesting bit.
re: "Features are certainly not removed or changed with every single version."
I will try to add an attachment to this thread. Please note the highlighted options from some older version of FF. I believe these features are long gone. Just an example.
Best,
K
