Really need / want a timestamp to articles listed in my RSS feeds in the hub panel. I can't tell how recent something was added or the last time it synched.
Blocks: lists
To do this we would need to augment the views, adding more options for add-on developers. Maybe we can have a layout similar to the improved reading list view in bug 889351.

This isn't a good first bug, but this would be a fun feature to work on. It would be nice to see the work in bug 889351 land first.

Seems like a good place to start. Handing this over to Anthony though to let him make the call.

Will take a look at this.

I'm also going to look at how this will play with feeds that have both images and time stamps as well.

This bug is really about augmenting the home panel API to support showing more stuff (e.g. timestamps) in the dynamic panel list items.
Summary: Add timestamp to articles listed in my RSS feeds in the hub → Add views to display more content in dynamic panel list items
if we're going to continue making this a tool for discovery of new content, need this ability to make it useful / users know what's been refreshed and updated with confidence

It would be good to do this as part of bug 1066884.

fine by me to be removed.

I want to think about this together with the web extension work on Fennec.
I tend to think that this bug will help us with some future Web Extensions promotion on Feeds, News categories.

Thoughts? Kev/Andy?
Is it an area that will align with the Web Extensions plan?
Thanks

Looking back at this bug, I'm not sure what "dynamic panel item lists" are actually. Generally we would like to have WebExtension APIs to key parts of the Android interface. Rather than trying to do those as XUL or native widgets, we'd like to try and do them as HTML and JS and pulling from the WebExtension. For a start we are doing a sidebar as in bug 1208596.

So if this makes sense from an Android, point of view, yeah go for it. If this is a WebExtension API, should we move it over to the WebExtension component?

I agree: Let's have a fresh look at this from the WebExtension point of view. There are some new ideas for the panels and third-party content (in regards to Activity Stream)... so I would be careful to not implement something new that we later decide to pull again. :)
Per discussion, we will further re-consider this bug in the scope of WebExtension.
add this bug into the metabug list of Bug 1185785 - (webext-android) [tracking] Extension API for Android.

Thank you very much !

Keeping it in the context of sidebars for consistency with webextensions for desktop is something that'd be great to consider. I recognize the space constraints, but given how similar this is to sidebars on Desktop, and recognizing how they'd be displayed will be Android front-end specific, if we can avoid adding a separate method for a different platform it'd be awesome.
