Steps to reproduce:

1. Type non-ascii characters "あかさたな" in the search box of Quick Filter Toolbar.
2. Close the window.
3. Reopen Thunderbird.


Actual results:

The text in the search box is garbled into "BKU_j".


Expected results:

The text in the search box is still "あかさたな".
Thanks Ryusei for reporting. Indeed. Already on recor as bug 621933, which got stuck somewhere along the road.
