There are a lot of "Undelivered Mail Returned
to Sender" messages coming through the Contribute mailing list. Many seem to be due to the address jay@jaygarcia.com, which may be a subscriber to the contribute mailing list. Could someone look into this please?

Another problematic email is alexapriori@mozilla.org

Jay had complained at the time of the CEO issue abotu the volume of messages he was getting but all my messages to him bounced… I had not noticed it was still happening. This is the ‘I have a suggestion about firefox” category, we may need to find someone else to triage this. Thanks Jeff.

Hi Larissa and Jeff-
Remind me what the "Contribute mailing list" is? Is it the about:home newsletter? Or what you sign up for if you click the submit button in the "want to help" area of the Get Involved page?
Thx,
Jen

The "Contribute mailing list" is <community-building@mozilla.org>. I don't remember how you sign up to be on this mailing list. Larissa, do you know?
There should be a way that someone can manage the people that are on this internally-managed mailman list.
The about:mozilla newsletter is housed in ExactTarget and you sign up on the /contribute page either in the "Sign up for a weekly newsletter that is full of community news and contribution opportunities." signup box, or by checking the box for "I’d like to receive regular contribution news by email" checkbox when submitting the "Want to help?" form. I think this issue is outside of the ExactTarget/newsletter realm.

Another potential place to track down this problem is the mailing lists used on the "Want to help?" form on the site - where do these inquires get forwarded to? Are any getting forwarded to "contribute@mozilla.org"?

I believe the problem here is to do with the back end of the registration form. David manages ownership of this list AFAIK. The back end of the Get Involved page contribution system is documented here https://wiki.mozilla.org/Contribute/Get_Involved_Details#By_Functional_Area and Jay is the Firefox Feedback area steward. We may need to get a new one. I've tried to email Jay, but the address bounces.

Alrighty.
I think the next step here is for David to remove jay@jaygarcia.com, alexapriori@mozilla.org, and any other "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender"email addresses from the list?

Yes, and then we need to replace them with other functional area stewards. Jay and Madalina share SUMO, so we can leave Madalina there, but we will need to find new stewards for the Firefox Feedback and Suggestions areas. ALexa does not seem to be associated with any of the areas, but she might be associated with one of the localized contacts. We'll see what we can find. For now, could someone from webdev remove Jay?

I think David maintains the list? Not webprod?

But I might be wrong?

Its not really an email list, its a script: https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/blob/master/bedrock/mozorg/email_contribute.py and its (to my knowledge) usually been maintained by webprod but if we need to I can try to find a resource n our team.

Hey everyone, there's another email that's causing a lot of bounces on this list. Shall I file another bug or can I add it here?
