The appmaker installation instructions reference the login.webmaker.org installation instructions, which work fine, but the login.webmaker.org README doesn't provide much information as to what that project is actually doing. I would be hesitant (if I didn't work for mozilla) to run the project locally without inspecting the code first because I don't know what it does, whether it's hooking in to some live database somewhere, how it's treating user data, etc., and that could potentially be a drop-out point for contributors who don't have the time to do that.
