having the language field pass through when users sign up for the newsletter here (as part of the app submission process): https://marketplace.firefox.com/developers/submit/ (compare to the UI here: hacks.mozilla.org/newsletter )
I believe this would need to be a bug for the Marketplace team. The API they use via basket supports the language parameter, they just need to alter their form and send the language with the subscription request.
Another option is to hide the newsletter opt-in for non-EN or non-ES subscribers and have the browser/webpage language pass through automatically into ExactTarget. I'm having a hard time changing the project and component of this but to the marketplace team. Can someone give it a try?
