This issue DOES repro on Buri 2.0 and Flame 1.4 for Ubuntu / OS X
Environmental Variables:
Device: Buri 2.0
BuildID: 20140709000201
Gaia: 1dd043857399c713e3b509c0ed31bdf20326f08b
Gecko: 0b5f757da75a
Version: 32.0a2
Firmware Version: 1.2-device.cfg
2.0 - Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:32.0) Gecko/32.0 Firefox/32.0
Environmental Variables:
Device: Flame 1.4
BuildID: 20140710000202
Gaia: b0e9b4bdb39c5eb93a6783a34624ffc84f62b126
Gecko: ccabaf8826a4
Version: 30.0
Firmware Version: V122
1.4 - Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:30.0) Gecko/30.0 Firefox/30.0
Following the STRs, once the user has disable USB storage from settings on Phone, the connection is still open, however, the device has a message under the USB sharing settings saying "Unplug USB cable to di..." This truncated message could be leading to unclear behaviour to the user.

I think missing this message is what caused me to file this bug in the first place. Are there any reasons we can't shut off the USB storage when the toggle is flipped? If not, we'll have to shorten the message to get rid of truncation.
