This is the saddest bug I'm filing today...

Panorama uses a number of lowdpi images, which look blurry (upscaled) on Retina displays. Additionally, the tab previews are drawn with a lodpi canvas, and site favicons are always 16x16 (which is a problem in other places in Firefox, but we at least use hidpi favicons in tabs, when they're available).

It feels like we shouldn't invest a lot of time into Panorama, given it's existing state of basically being in maintenance-mode (until we get around to replacing it with an improved version or removing it).

OTOH, it exists and if we do nothing it will be the only significant piece of Firefox UI that looks bad on Retina. So it would not be entirely unreasonable to invest some minimal effort to get it looking better, especially since a replacement/removal is still in the vague distant future.
Flags: firefox-backlog?
This was discussed in the triage meeting just now. We're not sure it's worth the effort - fixing favicons should be quite easy but fixing the thumbnails might not be. Given that we think it's not actually a significant piece of the UI we'd rather keep it in maintenance mode and will not prioritize it.

Panorama is gone as of 2016. Replacements https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/panorama-tab-groups/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simple-tab-groups/

But there is a request to bring it back per Bug 1509350 - Provide tab groups (panorama)
