And this would be an RFE? Why would one want to copy lines from about:config

To avoid having to retype long pref names and possibly make typos?

bz, what would you want to copy?

Pref names and pref values. Independently (that is, I want to be able to copy one without the other).

I'll comment here as the original reporter. When I filed this bug, I was chatting at irc://irc.mozilla.org/#mozillazine when I filed this bug; while there I was asked about what one of my prefs was set to. I happily entered about:config into my nearest location bar, and attempted to copy the text which I planned to paste into the chatzilla window. The pref in question was (at the time) undocumented and another experienced user wanted to see the effect of my setting. Rather than risking (as BZ pointed out) a typo, I hoped to be able to copy the pref name and setting exactly as it was displayed. Sorry that my original posting for this bug lacked details, but I didn't think that any more explanation was necessary since the ability to copy the text had been arbitrarily imposed on about:config. There seemed to be no reason to prevent a user from being able to copy the text.

Patch in bug 107418 should resolve this if it lands.
Depends on: 107418

I think this is fixed by bug 107418 check-in.

Not quite what I had hoped for, but close enough for me. If any of the voters or watchers disagree; I'll leave it to them to reopen.

Granted I only have 1.2.1, but what fix? How does it work?

The latest trunk builds (since about Jan 15th) have a reworked about:config. Bug 107418 details the changes, but significant here is the ability to copy either the pref name or value.

yep, you can copy the name and value for a given pref via the context menu.
