User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140506152807

Steps to reproduce:

I noticed this after my navigation bar started to fill up. I want to remove the items from the "More Tool" menu, but I cannot.

Actual results:

I couldn't try this in safe mode nor without extensions because then there wouldn't be enough buttons to populate my navigation bar nor the "More Tools" menu. My problem is that when clicking customize, the "More Tools" menu disappears with the buttons still in it, preventing me from editing it.

Expected results:

Ideally, the menu would stay shown wen clicking customize, not disappear.

We considered showing it but decided not to for the original release. Instead, to remove items from there, you can right click them while outside customize mode and use the context menu to move them to the palette or menu.

Madhava, do we still want to do more here?

Summary: "More tools" menu and buttons inside hidden during customize → Nav-bar overflow panel hidden during customize
I think this is an error in the User Interface, as there is no way I could have figured that out. Customize mode should edit everything.

To be clear, I am not talking about the Firefox menu (sometimes called the Hamburger). Also, this method is ineffective for most extensions, as their buttons usually take advantage of the right-click menu themselves, which is my main dilemma with the More Tools Menu.

Another problem is that sometimes buttons outside of the menu will be for a few seconds added to the menu as customize mode opens. The menu then disappears with the buttons, uncustomizable.

To be clear, we don't hide the menu, but we put the items back in the nav-bar. That they're not visible will be because there's so many (or the window is so narrow) that they don't fit.

Well for me it's hiding with and the buttons in it.

Expanding my window onto my second monitor does not help in Customize mode or not. Anyways, the location bar is dynamic and should size down long before this happens. Taking buttons out of the nav bar doesn't allow the buttons inside the "More Tools" menu to come out either. The location bar simply expands.

This sounds like something else is wrong, quite possibly caused by an add-on. Can you provide the extensions section of about:support?

Also, can you stop setting the alias for this bug, please?

Going to assume the answer to this is "no" for now.

Given the lack of reply, going to mark this as incomplete as it's not clear what's causing the odd behaviour. Please reopen if you figure out what add-on/configuration is causing the buttons to all go hiding in the expander menu.
