The application JotSmart works in Netscape 4.76-.78 (and actually 4.02, with a
few option setting changes), but does not work with Netscape 6.0-6.1 The
problem lies in the command line parameters that Netscape allows. Previously,
the "-compose" switch could be followed by a filename of a pre-made e-mail
message and then further followed by a file to be attached (in our case an audio
file). For example:
c:\netscape\netscape.exe -compose newmsg.txt -attachment.wav
Netscape 6.0 still accepts the "-compose" (i.e. opens Netscape Messenger with a
new message started), but it does NOT accept files for import.

Jean-Francois, how hard is it to import a text file as a message? Do you know
if our MAPI support will handle this?

what's the format of the file: message/rfc822?
More than simple text... MHTML (embedded images & attached audio files), i.e.
RFC2557.

Any news on this bug? (Apologies for posting a pester question here... my
concern is that the latest version of our product, JotSmart, is being released
with Lotus Notes and Pocomail compatibility. I hate to see our compatibility
with Netscape die because of this bug).
Thanks.

Sorry but it's not in my priority list. But you are welcome to find somebody to
add this feature to Netscape 6. Adding keyword helpwanted...
Keywords: helpwanted
I can certainly understand your priorities... I appreciate your candor.
When "reassessing" showed up in comment #4, our hopes were raised a bit.
Thanks for the suggestion about keyword "helpwanted". I guess I have no choice
now. I figured I'd go right to the final source (you guys at Netscape) before
trying the open source route.
Wish me luck!
