From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.76 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.4.2-2 i686)
BuildID: 2001080814
I have installed Red Hat Linux 7.1 standard GNOME and a KDE workstation. Then I
installed the blackdown version of j2sdk-1.3.1 and mozilla-0.9.3-1.i386.rpm, and
created a softlink for the java-plugins as described in the installation manual,
but when I try to open any java enabled page then mozilla displays the plug-in
windows and ask me for plugins. But if I install the entire development library
then it does not.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install a standard Red Hat 7.1 GONOME or KDE workstatiion.
2.Install blackdown java j2sdk-1.3.1-FCS-linux-i386.tar.gz
3.Install mozilla-0.9.3-1.i386.rpm
4.Make a softlink as
"ln -s <java directory>/jre/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/"
5. Open any applet emberded webpage.
Actual Results: You will get a download plugin window.
Expected Results: It should run the applet.

What development library are you referring to? j2sdk is the full development
library of java.
Also, can you try a recent nightly and see if you can reproduce it there? The
latest nightlies in RPM format can always be downloaded from
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest-trunk/Red_Hat_7x_RPMS/.
This bug is a duplicate of 93718: "java plugin not found". And please, always
use latest versions when reporting bugs :)
