Sequel to bug 1023566:
after manual update of Firefox ESR 24.5.0 to 24.6.0 via full installation of "Firefox Setup 24.6.0esr.exe" Firefox displays update notifications for ESR 24.6.0

Is this now working for you, i.e. you have not seen updates recently with incorrect update information?

Yes.
I've not experienced the reported behaviour any more in Firefox ESR 31.*
