Recently we've been extracting public data about code contribution history from Github and transforming it into formats that can be queried and analyzed. When we're doing this kind of work, we should find an open way to share the data that enables others to get involved. From time to time people are looking to contribute to Metrics work, but with some of our data sets it isn't easy to make the data available for them to explore. But where we have data sets like this that are already public data we should put these somewhere easy to access, and open up questions to the community. It's easy to dump this in a place like http://datahub.io/ but to make this valuable we need to tell the community about this, and perhaps open up some challenges and questions to inspire people to explore the data. I'm filing this bug now as it's not top of the priority list, but there are lots of people with good ideas in this space. Some notes on people to talk to: * Grow Mozilla Team and community mailing list * MoCo Metrics Team * Science Lab (and community)
