Need to write copy for this and set up in BSD
Assignee: nobody → andrea
No longer blocks: 1027690
No longer depends on: 1026703, 1027045, 1027150, 1027715, 1026700
* May not need to write new copy for this -- we already have a standard BSD confirmation mail we can sue * Andrea will ensure this is set up correctly on the BSD side
Could we not give them a few immediate CTAs, knowing that they expressed interest in maker party? vs a general "thank you"?
* +1 Brett. Makes sense. * From our contact at BSD just now: - "There is currently an autoresponder set up, although only with placeholder text." * Andrea: can we leave this assigned to you to write this copy / customize if and when you can?

Yes sure thing. Also the primary CTA should be driving people to the Maker Party site I think? Here is draft copy: --- DRAFT Hi [first name]! Thanks so much for signing up, and you're just in time. Our global Maker Party is in full swing, and you're invited! Through thousands of community-run events around the world, Maker Party unites enthusiastic web users like you with educators and organizations through hands-on learning and making. Click here to find an event near you: https://events.webmaker.org/ <<< [we should track this traffic] Why throw a global Maker Party? The Internet is the world's largest shared resource. We believe the best way to keep the Web free and open for everyone is to teach more people around the world how the Web works. We will make sure you get future updates and a chance to learn more about upcoming events and opportunities to get involved. Thanks for all you do to help protect the open Web, Mark P.S. Mozilla is able to do this work because of the support of people like you. Click here to make a donation: [URL]

Brett and Matt can you review and approve this copy and I'll have it added to the auto-responder?

Also just wondering if at some point we're going to ask people for their zip code and find close by events for them? That long scrolling list is going to be a blocker for users.
* r+ on the copy. But don't you want to drive them to Maker Party site: http://party.webmaker.org/ instead of https://events.webmaker.org/ ? * re: emailing events near them. We don't have that ability right now. Not sure if we'll get to it this summer. (Gavin -- any thoughts?)

(In reply to Andrea Wood from comment #4) > > Click here to find an event near you: > > https://events.webmaker.org/ <<< [we should track this traffic] > Yeah! :D Let's add this parameter onto which ever URL we choose to point them too: ref=makerparty2014-email-welcome (I've recorded this in Hannah's Comms Gauntlet tracking sheet)
We do have geolocation data for most events (lat/long), so it is feasible to do this. It's not something planned, but I'd say file it and we can see!

* This one is basically good to -- just pending that one final question for Andrea in comment 7 * Andrea mark resolved whenever you're happy with this

I don't think we have user's first name when they signup, so that copy will needs to update just a bit :D

I've made all the changes suggested and sent the final copy to M+R for implementation in the auto-reply. I'll let you know as soon as that's completed (today definitely). We'll do some final QA when it's in place.
Hi there, got word from M+R: -- The email auto-reply copy has been implemented (we can QA it when we have the other elements ready for testing) -- We need to make a decision. Either we create a sleek Popup to overlay the Maker Party page we're redirecting individuals to post-signup; OR we clone this type of BSD confirmation page and update the copy: https://sendto.mozilla.org/page/content/Thank-you-for-protecting-Net-Neutrailty/ My recommendation is create a simple popup that times out in 4-5 seconds that just says "Thanks for signing up!" or something, then disappears and reveals the Maker Party page underneath.
(In reply to Andrea Wood from comment #14) > My recommendation is create a simple popup that times out in 4-5 seconds > that just says "Thanks for signing up!" or something, then disappears and > reveals the Maker Party page underneath. I second this, as it's the way we've setup the existing conversion tracking.
+1. Andrea: can you get that created through +M+R? Do you need our devs to do anything?
Flags: needinfo?(andrea)
We'll need to do the popup ourselves
Yup, it lives on the redirect page (Maker Party page). We're likely much faster than M+R anyway. Thanks for all your work JBuck!
