"Save message as" should have a way to change default file type (e.g. .txt extension instead of .eml)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/35.0.1916.153 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Right click a message, select "Save as...". Actual results: "Save Message As" dialog box defaults, for "Save as type:", to "All Files (*.*)". Expected results: I always save messages as "Text files"; it should be possible for me to set that as the dialog's default "Save as type:" selection, instead of having to drop it down and select that type every time.

OK, "see also", but it isn't the same issue at all. 1710111 is a report of a clear bug -- "save as" is doing a "save" instead. My issue is that Tbird should provide the ability to set the default file type for "Save as", instead of me having to select it EVERY TIME I save an email -- that is VERY poor human engineering.

That's right. But if someone will work on one of them, it might be possible to fix both in one patch. "see also" simply links the bugs to make them easier to find.

Good point.

Fair enough, that's a good idea, and thanks.
I posted a comment on 1710111 too.
