STR: 1. Flash to B2G 2.0 (i'm on a Flame w/ today's aurora build). 2. Complete FTU. 3. Look at homescreen (I have the default "Three Columns" icon layout). Actual results: With the vertical homescreen, this is what I currently see on "page 1" of the homescreen: - Phone - Messages - Contacts --- - Social - Games - Music - Entertainment --- (where "---" is a horizontal separator). If I scroll down to "page 2", i can now see the main apps: - Camera - Gallery - FM Radio - Settings - Marketplace - Calendar - Clock - Usage - Email - Music - Video --- And finally on "page 3", you see: - Browser Expected results: Smart collections aren't that important and shouldnt take up about half of the "main" homescreen. I'd much rather see important things like "Camera", "Gallery", "Email", "Music", "Video", "Marketplace", and "Browser" on the main page since those are things I'm more likely to want to find quickly. I think this was less of an issue with the horizontal homescreens since my muscle memory could easily tell where on the 3x4 icon grid my camera app may have been, but now with the "infinite scroll" vertical homescreen, you will have a lot harder time trying to find the icons you want in a hurry (like a camera). I think the Smart Collections icons should probably be moved to the bottom of the vertical homepage by default.

[1029655-4 (reordered).png](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8445303) reordered icons (smart collections moved to bottom, most common icons now appear on the main homepage screen (with the exception of "Music", "Video", and "Browser" - although it should be easy enough to shuffle icons to get those on the main screen if we move "FM Radio", "Settings", "Usage", and "Clock" down)).
What is the UX point of view?

I agree that the icon configuration could be improved but I do feel that we should still include smart collections near the top of the screen. I think as well, it will help to group related apps together and use the dividers a bit more effectively. I've filed a bug to improve the overall icon configuration which includes my proposal for the icon layout. Bug number 1030440.
