In today's test run we had some failures because the phone could not connect to cell data.

Can someone in MV please take a look at this and see if you can reposition the phones to get a better signal?

Something is definitely wrong with b2g-9, bad cell signal or at all. Tests are failing badly http://selenium.qa.mtv2.mozilla.com:8080/view/B2G%20Aurora/job/b2g.flame.mozilla-aurora.ui.smoketest/38/console

Thanks for fixing this, Raymond. Was this one of the previous (i.e. older) phone placements? We haven't seen signal problems, yet, with the new buildout, right?

This was one of the old phones. I haven't noticed any signal issues with the new buildout yet since we have been using those phones mostly for perf tests. I added a UI-test job on Friday right before I left for the day and I haven't monitored it enough over the weekend to notice any issues.

Can someone please take a look at the location of the device?

Dylan and I have taken a look at the phone and made calls to and from it. Even with the low signal that it currently has, it is able to make and receive calls without an issue. As it stands, we can't move the devices to another location or make any big changes to the current setup. We can look into getting signal boosters from the network service provider for the lab but those cost extra per month.
Stephen, what do you think?

Are we seeing this repeatedly, on one phone (B2G-9), or, with the same carrier, same location, we're seeing similar results with other phones as well?
I know it'll be a lot of work, but let's try to isolate and pinpoint:
* whether it's the phone
* whether it's the carrier
* how often it happens
* etc.
Sadly, we are going to affected by real-world conditions in both AT&T/T-Mobile networks, esp. with spectrum refarming going on in both carriers. Over time, signal strength should only get better with both carriers, but we obviously have to mitigate this problem as much as we can, now.
I think on gaia-ui-automation we should brainstorm some other options; one that I can think of (if RF interference is thought to be an issue), besides signal boosters (which tend to only work for 5 or so devices, max -- at least with AT&T's) would be to enable Airplane Mode after UI test runs, so the radios in each phone isn't actively broadcasting while it's not running a test.
But that adds test and running/job complexity, too, so I don't really like it much.
