shows as a ? in a black diamond in an email, yet view source shows it correctly
as a pound sign (£)

I cannot reproduce it with my debug build (pulled this morning).
I sent a plain text message "And all for just £75, including lunch." in
ISO-8859-1 and can view the pound sign in the received message.
