What feature should be changed? Please provide the URL of the feature if possible. ================================================================================== Some pages are not completely translated that. For example: https://developer.mozilla.org/fr/docs/Outils/Debugger A banner at the top says: "This article is in progress of being translated." We need a new wording for this situation as some localizers think that *right now* someone is in the editor translating the document. Instead the meaning is that it is not complete yet and readers should not wonder about English contents and should be encouraged to help to finish it. What problems would this solve? =============================== Avoid confused translators. Who would use this? =================== Localizers What would users see? ===================== A new wording in the banner: "This article is not completely translated yet. Feel free to help." or similar. What would users do? What would happen as a result? =================================================== Localizers are not afraid to edit these documents because they think they collide with someone else. Is there anything else we should know? ====================================== The checkbox that enables the banner in edit mode has the wording: "Localization in progress - not completely translated yet."
Janet, may I ask you to think of a good sentence here ? You are good at terms and copies :-)

Luke: I've seen you have written a pull request for this. This bug is not ready for implementation, it has not been triaged and we have not agreed on the text. Please don't merge it — at least not before a sign off of the stakeholders.
How about: "Translation incomplete. You can _finish this translation_." And clicking "finish this translation" would take them to the edit page.
Tweak on Stephanie's suggestion; "This translation is incomplete. Please help _translate this article_ from English."

(In reply to Janet Swisher from comment #5) > Tweak on Stephanie's suggestion; > > "This translation is incomplete. Please help _translate this article_ from > English." I like this. Would this string itself be localized?
Note that initially we would have liked to have 2 different strings: one for the first few days, saying a translation has been started and is in progress. And a second after about 1 week without further progress saying the article is partially translated and inviting the reader to take over. But it looked that this was technically complex. Luke, can you confirm?

That's actually not difficult. Would be another conditional in the template [1]: [1] https://github.com/groovecoder/kuma/blob/translated-welcome-emails-1029071/apps/wiki/templates/wiki/document.html#L301-305

Done: https://github.com/groovecoder/kuma/compare/translation-in-progress-copy-1031714?expand=1 The two versions of copy are: "This translation is incomplete. Please help <a href="{{ translate_url }}">translate this article</a> from English." for in progress translations > 7 days old. "This translation is in progress." for < 7 days old. Janet - is that 2nd sentence good too? :teoli - there's a .warning a style declaration in Template:CustomCSS that's making the link yellow and un-readable on the yellow background of the message box. (See screnshot attachment) Can you clean that up?

Yes, that sentence seems fine to me.

Luke, I could, but class=warning leading to a yellow link seems to be correct. See https://developer.mozilla.org/tr/docs/Web/API The box has class=warning and is red with yellow link. (Not that I find these colors beautiful, but that's another problem). So how can the box have a class=warning and not be red, but still yellow links?
Flags: needinfo?(jypenator) → needinfo?(lcrouch)
:teoli - ah, it's the .warning-review class which changes the background from red to yellow for review messages. :shobson - looks like we don't have a link color designed/defined for .warning-review messages. The background is #fbf8e9. Do you want to pick a good link color for this, or will it rabbit-hole too far into the message styling stuff? :)

Got Stephanie's commit into the PR: https://github.com/mozilla/kuma/pull/2539

Cool! One last change here: I would prefer not to use 7 days as the limit but 10 days. We have editors coming only over the week-end, 10 days will cover all the use cases here. "This translation is incomplete. Please help <a href="{{ translate_url }}">translate this article</a> from English." for in progress translations >= 10 days old. "This translation is in progress." for < 10 days old. Thank you very much!
