The intention of the Task Admin page was to let admins create and edit tasks. Currently there are 3 similar pages with different behaviors for create and edit: 1) Task Admin: create and edit tasks 2) Available Tasks: create and edit tasks 3) Front page signed in: edit tasks The original plan was to only have Admin functions in the Task Admin page- with the exception of an edit button being visible on the Task Detail page. This was implemented differently. I find it confusing to have different options in different places- and would prefer admin options to only be on Task Admin. This is up for discussion.
I don't mind being able to edit tasks from all the views. I like that part. But, in the main Task Admin view, I'd like Create Task to be much more prominent. Create Task should only be available on the task admin page.
This is the other bug that I referred to in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1032312#c5. Personally I think we should make things as easy for admins as possible, which is why I added edit links pretty much everywhere that tasks appear. As an admin I'd rather not have to navigate to a particular page (Task Admin) in order to work with tasks - I'd like to be able to edit a task from anywhere in the system. I feel the same way about the Create Task button, but considering that you'll have to navigate to some page in order to create a task (because the button doesn't appear in the home screen), I suppose just having it on the Admin Task listing would suffice. I would actually be in favour of adding it to the dashboard for logged-in admins, so they could jump directly into creating a task after logging in. I think we need to consider what admins will spend most of their time doing, and how we can make those jobs as quick and easy for them as possible.
I like the idea of adding Create task to the dashboard. Having it the way it is now does no harm. I think I'd prefer the Create button to be at the top of the page so it's easier to find- but we can discuss that later. The most salient point is that we need to learn how admins will spend their time- so I think it would be good to let this wait & get Admin feedback before making any changes.
There is no driving need to add another Create task button. There is a separate bug filed to move the Create button location. There hasn't been any negative feedback about create or edit as it currently stands- so there are no actions that need to be taken on this.
