STR:
Select "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network"
Go offline and then connect to a wifi network with different proxy settings (without restarting FX)

Result:
Loading new pages fails (endless connecting throbber tab state) -- until one goes to Preferences and changes the proxy setting.

Note I'm not certain I've identified the cause of the problems when switching wifi networks correctly, but the workaround I described makes it seem a good guess.
bug 939318 ought to fix this
Depends on: 939318
needinfo'ing Daniel just to make sure comment 1 is correct (in which we should dupe this?)

I agree that the foundationg in Bug 939318 should work for this sort of network change as well, but I'm not sure the work in progress so far actually does it sufficiently. Primarily because I don't know exactly which mechanisms that are involved in the auto-detection of proxy settings (and I'm actually on vacation right now so I haven't yet done by home work of figuring it out myself).

the work that is in there of resetting the proxyservice should do the trick. but you need to test it, obviously.
Is this still a problem with the bug 939318 work that has since landed?

I haven't seen this problem in a while, so I assume that indeed fixed it!
