>>Project/Request Title: Logo work for "Geolocation Stumbler" tshirts. >>Project Overview: Mozilla is gathering together communities to have "stumbling events" where the participants go out and walk the streets detecting wifi devices to build out our worldwide map. We'd like to use tshirts to publicize the project while they are out and about. However, we don't have a design for these explorers. >> Creative Help Needed: Copy: No Design: Yes Video: No Other: No >>Creative Specs: Image (+slogan?) for use on tshirts. >>CTA and Design: Something fun within design guidelines that plays up the explorer or stumbler theme while still being clearly Mozilla. Direct references to "stumbling" are unnecessary. We have a lot of flexibility here. (Note that I'll shortly be filing a request for a more generic Services logo for internal use. Sharing a theme with that would be cool, but not necessary) >>Creative Due Date: 2014-07-15 >>Launch Date: 2014-07-29 >>Mozilla Goal: Services >>Points of Contact: telliott@mozilla.com, hschlichting@mozilla.com, debloper@gmail.com, pierros@mozilla.com

Hi Toby, thanks for filing your request. The entire Engagement team, including the Creative team will be at our offsite all this week, which will make it very difficult to hit your stated deadline. Could we move the deadline back by a week or so? LMK your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi Lizz, moving the deadline back a week isn't a problem and if it slips a bit more that's ok as well.

Hi all, I've attached a simple t-shirt/logo idea to represent Geolocation Stumbler. I wanted to create something simple and iconic, but still have a fun factor to it. You will see in the attached PDF, that the idea is centred around two common icons, the wifi signal and map marker...I thought this would make an interesting blend. I've gone with a softer rounded look to play up the whimsy a bit, which also ties into the overall Mozilla brand. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks, Matt

I'm a fan of the design, but I'm a little concerned that it's not obviously a mozilla shirt. If I saw that and missed the sleeve, I'd think it was a Google project. Should that be a concern?

Matt may have additional thoughts on this, but typically we'd put a Mozilla wordmark on the back of the shirt, or something similar to indicate that it's coming from us and not Google. Hard to get a full sense of that here, since we're not seeing the full shirt. Matt, could you share a mockup of what the full shirt (front and back) would look like with this design?
Thanks guys. Here is an example of the t-shirt layout with a more prominent 'mozilla' marker on the back as opposed to the sleeve. http://cl.ly/image/1z3J3i3R0i17. I've also removed the two tone red on the map marker to further simplify things. You often see Google use this technique with their icons, so I thought it would help define it more as a Mozilla look without.

I like it. Moving the mozilla helps. One thing that's hard to tell in the sample - is the pin red or orange? I associate red pins with Google, and if it was Firefox orange, I think that would help with the branding too. Thanks!

Thanks Toby. I've attached an updated version using Firefox orange as a replacement for the red.

(In reply to MT from comment #11) > Created attachment 8460525 [details] > geolocationStumbler_tshirt.pdf > > Thanks Toby. I've attached an updated version using Firefox orange as a > replacement for the red. Can we please use https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/firefoxos/color/ color swatches (can't be sure if we are)? Also, if you can please add the editable vector/source file, it'd help. I think I can help refine the design a bit. The base concept looks good to me. Cheers!

Hi Soumya. Matt is using the correct colors. He's been designing for us for a long time - we don't need to check his work like that. Also, I don't think additional editing is the right way to get this resolved. Personally, I think this work is strong and we should move forward with it. If there are substantive changes that need to be made in order to meet the goals, then let's discuss them, but otherwise this feels done to me...I worry that we're heading into http://bikeshed.com/ territory. Matt, can you provide Toby with the files he needs for the t-shirts?

Hi all, I've attached an Illustrator file which includes the print ready files to pull from. Similar to the PDF there is a graphic placement example. All colours are from the standard Firefox Pantone palette. I recommend the tshirt colour to come as close to the Firefox Light Blue, otherwise Firefox Blue would be a good substitute. Please let me know if you have any issues that I can help with. Thanks, Matt
