Since we know that a lot of people who try Guest Browsing are getting stuck there and not leaving, we might consider a single page version of about:home that only appears when Guest Browsing is on. It could tell you that you're currently using Guest Browsing, and provides a control to exit back to a normal browsing session.

Might we also consider some simple UI changes? This is an old design and I would need to update it but I think it's one of the most obvious visual indicators too.

To be honest I think the colour changes might be too subtle. 

Normal Browsing <---> Private Browsing makes sense to look different, but I think we've decided that adding a third visual state just adds complexity for people. 

Which is why we want to look at just making a dedicated home/newtab page that explicitly *tells* people Guest Browsing is on, and even throw something in the notification tray as well, as per https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=897711#c12
